Where would
you begin?
Tell Smt. Krishnaveni what you have sung before, what you remember, and what you want to learn. She can discuss a starting point with you.
Her academy describes a flexible, level-wise approach. The topics below show the range of study, while the starting point depends on each learner’s experience and goals.
If you are new to Carnatic singing
Beginners work with pitch and rhythm, then exercises that support early compositions. The academy’s outline includes shruti and vocal exercises, sarali and janta varisai, alankarams, geethams, and swarajatis. Adults and children can enquire.
If you have never studied music, say so. If you sing outside formal Carnatic lessons, mention that too.
If you learned before and stopped
You may remember a varisai, a geetham, or a composition but feel unsure how much is still there. Share the pieces and exercises you know, when you last studied, and what you would like to revisit. Krishnaveni can help identify which foundations need attention before you return to repertoire and expression.
If you want to study more deeply
For students with prior training, the academy’s outline includes varnams, kritis, gamakas, raga alapana, kalpana swaras, and concert preparation where appropriate. The emphasis depends on your experience and goals. If there is a composition or aspect of manodharma you want to work on, mention it when you enquire.
You can hear selected performances and read about Krishnaveni’s training and teaching before contacting her.
